How to Replace the Espring Water Filter Cartridge

November 10th, 2009 · No Comments

It’s time to replace your Amway eSpring Water filter and not too sure how to do it? Here you may find some help.

If you are using an eSpring water filter, the electronic module inside the unit will beep reminding you that it is time to replace the filter cartridge. It is telling you that either 1320 gallons of water have gone through the unit, or it has been a year since you last installed or changed the cartridge.   If 1320 gallons of water was being filtered, the activated carbon block has reached its maximum filtering capacity. If you keep on running your water through, it will actually flush out the trapped contaminants from the carbon pores into your water making it unsafe to drink. The ultra-violet (UV)light bulb inside the cartridge only has one year life span and needs replacement once a year.

TIPS WHEN REPLACING THE CARTRIDGE or THE TUBING:

  • When taking apart the tubing from the unit, remove each tube by pressing with your fingertips on both side of the rings that surround the tubing. Then pull the tube out with the opposite hand. It works the same for the Amway Water Treatment system.
  • If it leaks after installing the new cartridge, it could be that when you press in the cartridge, you didn’t press in far enough so water will leak through and if you find it hard to fit the new cartridge into the housing all the way down, apply a little food grade lubricating gel around the black rubber ring.  This should get it all the way down, snugly tight.  Be sure to twist on the ring cap.
  • If the tubes are worn, you can replace the tubes without replacing the whole faucet kit if yours can be detached by twisting the screws from the faucet head (counter top model); otherwise you would have to replace the whole kit.  There is not a product number for the tubes only, so you can call the 800-253-6500 and ask to speak to the eSpring department to order.
  • If the red light came on after installing, try taking  off the upper lid, the module, then fit them back carefully to ensure everything is in place.
  • Still having problem installing? Call 1-800-253-6500 and ask for someone in the eSpring department. These folks are very helpful over the phone and can normally guide you through if you have any trouble putting it all together.

There is a manual you can download and videos showing how to replace the eSpring cartridge Here

And this is a video I made for you:
